Renovation projects are enriching and cathartic: a thoroughly brilliant way of inching toward a better environment for yourself and your loved ones.

Why I Renovated My Bathroom
The first post I’d like to make about my adventures in remodeling is the most recent one I just completed. If you’re as sanitary and hygienic, you will know the feeling and frustration of dealing with bathrooms and everything associated with it, especially with bathroom spaces that you never ever had a hand in planning or making.
Which I bet is a great majority of everyone. Because bathrooms are essential parts of the home and something necessary for everyone, most houses or apartments will have them ready-made, regardless of if you’re renting a unit or buying one—but, sometimes, contractors cut some corners and try to deliver only the barest of minimums.
For someone that’s been described as being too fastidious and bordering on being a hypochondriac like me, I desperately needed the chance to make my dream bathroom.
And this is exactly my thoughts about the whole thing.
The Road to My Dream Bathroom
So, where do we begin? Personally, before I start with any renovation project, I always call my go-to handymen, which in this case is the Handshakers Constructions team, who are based in Cincinnati, very close to where I live. When I call them, it’s always with the expectation of sharing my plans with them and asking them for their opinion. From there, we bounce off some ideas about what could be done and what can’t be done—that’s very important with these kinds of projects. Then, after that, I ask them for an estimate of the costs, which takes a whole lot of back-and-forth. Renovations are frustratingly expensive.
For this dream bathroom project, the team at Handshakers Constructions was quite receptive to my ideas, pitching in some ideas I didn’t think about. We also agreed on a fairly reasonable price, but I think that had more to do with the fact that I’d been with them for many years than anything, so don’t hold that over me!
The Whole Renovation Process
Without getting into too much detail, it’s very difficult to find a contractor these days; even harder is finding a contractor that can quickly adapt to your needs. Luckily for me, Handshakers Constructions is a very professional company, and even when I first worked with them, they were quite reliable and extremely friendly. I’m not the best woman to work with, I’ll agree to that, but they were just so patient with me. Kudos to them for putting up with me!
Working with Handshakers Constructions is lovely because you have access to a very efficient team of handymen. My old bathroom was demolished for renovation in just under a day—if I remember correctly, it took just an afternoon. And because they are very particular with scheduling, I didn’t have to be afraid of being put on the waiting list. In just a little under a few days of telling them my plans and calling for their services, they immediately came to my home and started working.
My Dream Bathroom Results
Writing about this now, I am a very happy lady. Thanks to Handshakers Construction, I am now very much in control of my bathroom, and my family is too. We added a bidet, modernized the bathtub, and more.
Final Thoughts on My Remodeling Adventure
When I did my first renovation project, it was messy, stressful, and full of mistakes, so much so that when I look back on it, I’m always astonished as to how I navigated through it in one piece!
But I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world because I learned so, so many things about a lot of things from it.
And it is my sincerest hope that by telling people about my own experiences, they, too, can share their experiences with others and learn from each other.
